We use 6 tags: THAI (genuinely Thai), THAI-BOTTLED (foreign brand made at Thai factories), THAI-ASSEMBLED (vehicles built in Thailand), THAI-OPERATED (foreign brand run by Thai franchisee), INDIRECT (not Thai, but the corporate owner also operates in Thailand), MIXED-SOURCING (non-Thai retailer that stocks many Thai-made products — check individual product labels).

ខែសីហា ២០២៥៖ បន្ទាប់ពីការប៉ះទង្គិចតាមព្រំដែនកម្ពុជា-ថៃ Coca-Cola បានបញ្ចប់កិច្ចសន្យាផ្សាយពាណិជ្ជកម្មជាមួយវង់ស្ត្រី VannDa ដោយសារតែយោបល់របស់គាត់អំពីជម្លោះព្រំដែន។ ការដ្ឋានផែនការសារពើភ័ណ្ឌបានផ្ទុះឡើង។
August 2025: Following Cambodia-Thailand border clashes, Coca-Cola terminated its advertising contract with Cambodian rapper VannDa over his comments on the border dispute. A boycott movement followed.

August 2025: Cambodia Cola launched as a 100% Cambodian product by Chip Mong Group and Khmer Beverages, with the slogan "Fizz Up the Flavour of Joy".
ខែសីហា ២០២៥៖ ស្ថានីយ៍ PTT ៣៥+ ប្តូរម៉ាកជា PPC (Peace Petroleum Cambodia) ដោយម្ចាស់ Ty Siam។ PTT ប្រកាសថាអាចនឹងដកខ្លួនពីកម្ពុជាបន្ទាប់ពីការលក់ធ្លាក់ចុះ ៥០-៦០%។
August 2025: 35+ PTT stations rebranded as PPC (Peace Petroleum Cambodia) under owner Ty Siam. PTT signaled potential withdrawal from Cambodia after a 50-60% sales drop.
ខែឧសភា ២០២៦៖ The Pizza Company បានប្តូរម៉ាកនៅកម្ពុជាជា TPC Pizza (The Pizza Cambodia) ដោយ EFG Cambodia ដែលផ្ទេរទៅក្រោម Palms Food International (សិង្ហបុរី) ដែលជាក្រុមហ៊ុនបុត្រសម្ព័ន្ធរបស់ RMA Group (មានទីស្នាក់ការនៅបាងកក)។
May 2026: The Pizza Company rebranded in Cambodia as TPC Pizza (The Pizza Cambodia) by EFG Cambodia, which was transferred under Palms Food International (Singapore), itself a subsidiary of RMA Group (Bangkok-headquartered).

ខែកុម្ភៈ-មីនា ២០២៦៖ Major Cineplex បានដកខ្លួនទាំងស្រុងពីកម្ពុជា លក់រោងភាពយន្តទាំង ៦ និងបាល់បូលឱ្យ Sabay Digital Group ដែលជាក្រុមហ៊ុនកម្ពុជា ក្នុងតម្លៃ ១៦១ លានបាត (~$៥.១ លានដុល្លារ)។ បានប្តូរម៉ាកជា Sabay Cinema និង Sabay Rhythm & Bowl នៅថ្ងៃទី ៥ ខែមីនា ២០២៦។ នេះជាការដកខ្លួនទាំងស្រុងជាលើកដំបូងរបស់ក្រុមហ៊ុនថៃ — ខុសពី PPC និង TPC ដែលនៅតែភ្ជាប់ជាមួយរចនាសម្ព័ន្ធក្រុមហ៊ុនថៃ។
Feb-March 2026: Major Cineplex fully exited Cambodia, selling all 6 cinemas and bowling alleys to Sabay Digital Group, a Cambodian company, for 161 million baht (~$5.1 million). Rebranded as Sabay Cinema and Sabay Rhythm & Bowl on March 5, 2026. This is the first FULL Thai company exit — different from PPC and TPC which kept Thai-linked corporate structures.

Worth noting: Senate President Hun Sen cautioned against over-boycotting, observing that Coca-Cola Cambodia employs 99.7% Cambodian staff.

Economic impact (2025-2026)

Per Kao Thach, CEO of the Agricultural and Rural Development Bank of Cambodia (Khmer Times, January 2026): around 6 major Thai companies have withdrawn from Cambodia, while CP has scaled back its business activities.

Thai exports to Cambodia fell by 43% in 2025. Total bilateral trade reached $3.65 billion, down 14.86% (per Cambodia's General Department of Customs and Excise).

The nuance: Arnaud Darc (Thalias Hospitality Group) called boycotts a "double-edged sword": Cambodia\'s food & beverage sector employs over 200,000 Cambodians (2024). Many outlets operating under Thai brand names are in fact Khmer-owned, employ Khmer staff, and source locally.

How to verify a product\'s origin

A single barcode is not enough. A 2025 public incident showed that Cambodian barcodes (prefix 884) can be affixed to imported products either by mistake or by intent. To verify reliably:
